2 months agoTo say this is the best meal I’ve ever had would be an understatement. The meatloaf melted in my mouth with the most savory flavor and the oxtail peeled right off the bone and was bursting with flavor.

4 months agoMy name is Cynthia. I've been in Jamie Seeley for almost a month now. Wanted some food outside of the hospital. So I met a nurse and she, she happened to be there when I was saying, oh, where's the soul fool restaurant? She introduced me to her grandmother's restaurant, Allens, my gosh, when I say the food is awesome. It is awesome. So whenever you're in Galveston, stop by Allen's restaurant, you can't go wrong at all.The food is awesome you're gonna get real soul food.

5 months agoI'm a trucker that had to deliver at the port in Galveston. I had to wait a few hours before I could go in, so luckily for me I found Allen's Restaurant on Google maps and it was .2 miles away! I made it just in time to get a breakfast bowl with a biscuit and gravy on top and a pork chop AND a side of cabbage that was just put out for lunch!! Y'all..... I'm telling you, every single bite of it WAS FIIIIINE!!!! 😋🥰 My mouth is watering as I write this!!! Very friendly atmosphere with very wonderful staff! I HIGHLY recommend stopping by for a bite to eat if you're in the area!!!

5 months agoLet me start by saying Allen’s is a must try! Don’t let the outside fool you, this place is a so so good! We informed the woman behind the counter it was our first time and she explained the menu and prices. The young man at check out was also friendly. The food was excellent, hot and fresh and the service was great. We tried the oxtails with rice and gravy, Mac and cheese, cabbage, fried pork chops and green beans. Everything was cooked to perfection! We will definitely be telling everyone about this place and will be back again!

6 months agoI really have no issue with this place everytime i come here from the breakfast to the lunch i always leave satisfied but for the newcomers it would be help to have a menu to know how much we spend

a year agoI live in Dallas but was near Galveston and remembered I was close enough to Allen’s Kitchen and Grill I was referred by my son. He told me to try this restaurant if we ever came close to Galveston. I will say I was not disappointed. I got the pork chop sandwich, fish with yams and cabbage. The food was delicious. Good friendly family environment. , good prices. Oh I didn’t say we drove 30 miles out our way to get there.and it was worth it.

2 years agoI’ve gone numerous times (a huge plus for working in Galveston). The portions of food is amazing, I only know a handful of grown men who have finished a plate in a single sitting. Now to the food quality, this food right here is nothing short of delicious. The smothered pork chops and the ox tails are perfect. The okra & tomatoes, greens, candy yams, black eyed peas, broccoli rice & cheese all of it remind me of my great grandmothers cooking back in east Texas. Hands down a hidden gem in Galveston.
